I posted pictures of cross brace and I think many years have the same arrangements. I made this seat so that without compromising the bikes suspension with an expensive lowering kit, which only brings you down about 2 inches, I could get my feet on the ground and better control the bike and enjoy riding this beast. This seat option actually lowers you down about 4 inches so instead of riding on top of the bike your more into it.

I'm not going to say this seat is as comfortable or as nice looking as the original but the ability of having my feet on the ground is worth the trade off. Constructed of high density foam and covered with high quality weatherproof vinyl. My 650 is a 2006 and the seat bolts right up. At 165 pounds I can road ride this bike for hours with no problem.
